Traveling Display – Honoring 100 Years of the US 36 Hwy Assoc.

009Learn about US 36 Highway and the history of the  US 36 Highway Association. The display is located in Seneca Free Library and will remain until Wednesday April 23rd. The display features memorabilia, books, pictures and news articles that reflect on the 100 years. Included are photographs of Governor Hodges and the delegation that mapped out the route across Kansas, from St. Joseph, MO to Denver, CO in September 1913. In its 100 years, the Association experienced the ‘pride of development’, a tragic plane crash in 1949, the Miss Perfect 36 contest (1951~1954); all while promoting commerce & tourism along the route. Come see and you too may say…..”remember when….!”
