Seneca Free Library You can tell the health and well-being of a community by its library.

Inter-library Loan {ILL} is a service offered to Seneca Free Library Patrons who need a book, video or magazine articles that our library does not own. Let us know what you need and we will locate it for you, if possible. Reference materials, rare or valuable items usually are not available through Inter-library loan.

There is no charge for this service as long as we are able to find the item in the state of Kansas. It usually takes 1 to 2 weeks, depending on availability and how new or popular the item is. Borrowed material is due back to our library 3 weeks from date of contact.

THIS PORTION IS BEING REWRITTEN AND UPDATED

Our patrons are now able to search the Kansas Library Catalog (KLC) to find what is available in the state of Kansas. Simply go to  http://www.kslib.info/, once there, in the yellow box, click on Advanced Search. That will bring up a blue Search For box. Type in the title and author’s name on the left side of the box, on the right side, the All Headings are drop down boxes where you choose Title or Author of the material you are looking for. You can also search by subject. To the right of the Search For box is the Qualifiers box, where you can specify a Book, Visual Material (videos, DVD etc), Non-Musical Sound Recordings (books on tape or CD) etc.

For our Patrons who have signed up for unmediated ILL, you can sign in at the top of the Kansas Library Catalog  page under by clicking on User Login button. In case you need a refresher, the instructions are below.

In the box titled Library enter the code FJ9 for Seneca Free Library. In the box titled Username or Barcode enter your user name. In the box titled Password or PIN enter your PIN number.

*Your PIN in the last four digits of the telephone number the library has on file for you.

*Click the GO button . This will take you to the main search page of the Kansas Library Catalog.

*You may then begin your search by using the simple search box at the top of the main page, or you can use the “Advanced Search” option at the top of the page.

*After entering your search criteria, you will be brought to a results page.

Click on the result that matches what you are looking for. If the description of the material IS what you want, refer to the steps To Make An ILL Request below.

**If you are having trouble viewing the results page, be sure you have your pop-up blocker disabled. You may do this by changing the setting on your pop-up blocker to temporarily allow pop-ups from the KLC.**

*If the material IS NOT what you are looking for, you may return to searching by hitting the back button on your browser and continuing the search.

TO MAKE AN ILL REQUEST

Once you have found the material you want, check to be sure Seneca Free Library DOES NOT own the item. Do this by scrolling down to the bottom of the page and checking the Locations Information for Seneca Free Library. If you are listed, you do not need to request the item, give us a call @ 336-2377 or put a hold on the item through NExpress.
