The Kansas Notable Books is a list of books published by Kansans or about Kansas. This list contains books published in 2009. There is something for everyone, young and old, included.

POOL PARTY A GREAT SUCCESS!

Over 75 young summer readers completed the Make a Splash! Summer Reading program before the July 31 deadline and were eligible to attend our library Pool Party last Thursday. Seneca Free Library invited Bern, Centralia and Corning libraries to join in the fun too. Each library set their own rules for earning a ticket to the pool party. BRING IN YOUR SUMMER READING LOGS!

Make a Splash Read! is the Summer Reading theme this year. At our Library, if you read you CAN make a SPLASH at the Seneca Aquatic Center! The Seneca Free Library, along with other libraries in our county, is hosting a swim party at the Aquatic Center Thursday August 5 at 8:00 PM. This party is for those who signed up in June and picked up a reading log. Children who have read 20 books and bring in their completed reading log by July 31 will be given a blue ticket, along with a certificate that recognizes their reading accomplishment.

Encourage your friends to read their 20 books and turn in their reading logs too!

Children MUST have that ticket in hand to enter our pool party.

Eager readers can pick up a second reading log to read for another prize!

Story & Activity Hour for 1st-3rd graders

Children who have just completed 1st thru 3rd grades are asked to sign up each week for their Story and Activity Hour. The sessions are limited to 20 children. Each week will feature a different water themed story and activity. Give us a call at 336-2377 to get in on the fun!

We ask that you sign up each week, rather than all the craft days at the beginning of summer.

Preschool Story Hour

Wednesday is the day for Story Hour at Seneca Free Library. Preschoolers can come enjoy stories, songs and activities from 10:00 to 11:00 each Wednesday in June and July 7 with the exception of June 23. There will be no Story Hour on June 23. No sign up is required for preschoolers.

The summer reading Make A Splash Pool Party is Thursday August 5 at 8:00 PM. Children must have a blue ticket in hand to enter. This party is for children who signed up for the Summer Reading, read 20 books over the summer and filled out their reading log, brought the reading log into the library to pick up their ticket and a certificate recognizing their reading accomplishment.
